Where do I park? Are there handicapped spots available?
O’Neal Street United Methodist Church offers handicapped parking spaces in our paved lot adjacent to the church building. While this lot is small, additional parking is available in the grass lot next to the parsonage. We strive to accommodate all our visitors and ensure accessible parking options are available.
What should I wear?
At O’Neal Street United Methodist Church, we encourage you to come as you are! There’s no formal dress code—whether you prefer to dress up or keep it casual, you’ll feel right at home. We value a welcoming atmosphere over appearance, so wear whatever makes you comfortable.
Do you have Sunday School?
We currently do not have a Sunday School at O’Neal Street United Methodist Church, but as our community continues to grow, we’re excited about the prospect of starting one in the near future! In the meantime, we’re also planning to launch a weekly book club soon, creating another wonderful opportunity for fellowship, learning, and sharing in faith together. We invite you to join us now and be part of this journey, helping us build meaningful programs and a vibrant church community for all ages.
Is the Children's Church, a nursery, children's ministry, or youth ministry?
At O’Neal Street United Methodist Church, we currently don’t have a dedicated children’s church, nursery, or youth ministry—but we’re thrilled to see more young people joining our services each week! As we continue to grow, we’re excited about the possibilities for developing ministries and programs for children and youth. We invite you and your family to be part of this journey with us, helping to shape a vibrant church community. Come and see the possibilities as we build together!
How do I join the church?
Joining O’Neal Street United Methodist Church is a meaningful step in your faith journey, and we welcome you with open arms. To become a member, we invite you to attend our worship services and get to know our church community. After you’ve had the opportunity to experience our fellowship, please speak with our pastor, Rev. Ed Stallworth, who will guide you through the membership process. This typically involves a conversation about your faith journey and, if you haven’t already, participating in a profession of faith or transfer of membership from another congregation. We look forward to walking alongside you as you become part of our church family.
Is the church available for events (i.e., weddings, funerals, etc.)?
Yes, O’Neal Street United Methodist Church is available for events such as weddings and funerals. We welcome you to use our space for these special occasions, and simply ask that it be cleaned afterward to ensure it remains welcoming for all who gather here. Please reach out to discuss availability and any specific needs for your event.

Rev. Ed Stallworth is the pastor of O’Neal Street United Methodist Church in Newberry, South Carolina. Raised in Colorado in a Buddhist family, he became a Christian at 18, embracing a faith journey that blends his spiritual roots with a commitment to Christian service. His diverse multi-cultural background brings a unique perspective to his ministry, allowing him to bridge different cultures and traditions in meaningful ways. Passionate about inclusivity and community outreach, Rev. Stallworth is dedicated to creating spaces where all people feel welcomed, valued, and inspired to serve.
